In 1949, Eicher GoodEarth was set up in India with a technical collaboration with Gebr. Eicher of Germany imported and sold about 1500 tractors in India. On 24 April 1959 Eicher came out with the first locally assembled tractor from its Faridabad factory and in a period from 1965 to 1974 became the first fully manufactured (100% indigenization) tractor in India. In December 1987 Eicher Tractors went public and in June 2005 Eicher Motors Limited sold Eicher Tractors &amp; Engines to a subsidiary of TAFE called TAFE Motors and Tractors Limited.

Farmtrac tractors are built in India by the Escorts Group (Escorts Agri) for sale in India and Poland. It is one of three brands built by Escorts Agri. The other brands are Escort and Powertrac. The Farmtrac brand was launched by Escorts in 1996 in response to the loss of the Ford/New Holland license in India.

The Powertrac 439 is available with a 2340cc three-cylinder naturally-aspirated diesel engine, which is capable of producing a maximum power output of 40 hp at 2,000 rpm. This engine comes equipped with an oil-bathed air cleaner and is coupled to a transmission unit comprising eight forward and two reverse gears. The centre shift location of the gearbox offers optimized and convenient use, while in assistance with an inboard reduction rear axle. The Powertrac 439 is also available with a single clutch as standard, though one can opt for a dual-clutch system at a premium.

Powering the Powertrac 439 is a 2340cc three-cylinder diesel engine, which is paired to a transmission unit having eight forward gears and two reverse gears and produces a maximum power output of 40 hp.

The Powertrac 439 comes equipped with a 6-spline PTO, which is capable of operating at a speed of 540 rpm. Coming equipped with oil-immersed disc brakes as standard, the Powertrac 439 is available with a two-wheel-drive system as standard, with the tractor rolling on 6.0x16 front tyres and 13.6x28 rear tyres. With a kerb weight of 1850 kg, the Powertrac 439 has a wheelbase of 2060mm and a ground clearance of 375 mm. The length and width of the tractor are 3225 mm and 1750 mm respectively, while having a ground clearance of 400mm. Powertrac claims a lifting capacity of 1600 kg for the 439.

The Powertrac 60 features a 1600 kg Sensi-1 hydraulic lift capacity, oil-immersed disc brakes and an option of power steering available at an extra premium. Escorts Group is offering a standard warranty of 5 years on the Powertrac 60.

The main highlights of the Powertrac 439 are oil-immersed disc brakes for stopping power and the availability of power steering as option for an added cost.
