In 1949, Eicher GoodEarth was set up in India with a technical collaboration with Gebr. Eicher of Germany imported and sold about 1500 tractors in India. On 24 April 1959 Eicher came out with the first locally assembled tractor from its Faridabad factory and in a period from 1965 to 1974 became the first fully manufactured (100% indigenization) tractor in India. In December 1987 Eicher Tractors went public and in June 2005 Eicher Motors Limited sold Eicher Tractors &amp; Engines to a subsidiary of TAFE called TAFE Motors and Tractors Limited.

The engine on duty in the Swaraj 735 FE is a 2734cc three-cylinder diesel engine, which produces a maximum power output of 40 bhp at 1,800 rpm. This four-stroke diesel engine gets a three-stage air cleaning system with cyclonic, pre-cleaner oil bowl and paper element for a longer life span. The cooling system employed for the operation of this diesel engine is a water cooler with a no-loss tank. The transmission on duty here consists of 8 forward gears and two reverse gears. While the maximum speed in the forward gears is 27.80 kmph, the same in the reverse gears is 10.74 kmph.&nbsp;
