This engine is paired with a transmission unit comprising 8 forward and 2 reverse gears and produces a maximum power output of 25 bhp. Eicher claims a top speed of 27.61 kmph for the 242 tractors, while it gets basic air cooling for keeping the engine cool at high operating temperatures. The Eicher 242 comes with a single clutch as standard for the transmission.
