In 1949, Eicher GoodEarth was set up in India with a technical collaboration with Gebr. Eicher of Germany imported and sold about 1500 tractors in India. On 24 April 1959 Eicher came out with the first locally assembled tractor from its Faridabad factory and in a period from 1965 to 1974 became the first fully manufactured (100% indigenization) tractor in India. In December 1987 Eicher Tractors went public and in June 2005 Eicher Motors Limited sold Eicher Tractors &amp; Engines to a subsidiary of TAFE called TAFE Motors and Tractors Limited.

The Sonalika DI 35 is powered by a 2780cc three-cylinder, water-cooled, diesel engine, which claims a maximum power output of 39 bhp at 2,000 rpm. All this power produced is channelled to the rear wheels via a rear-wheel-drive system through a partial constant mesh and sliding mesh transmission unit, which includes 8 forward gears and 2 reverse gears. With this gearbox, the top speed claimed by Sonalika for the DI 35 is 32.71 kmph.&nbsp;

The Sonalika DI 35 comes with a 2780cc three-cylinder diesel engine, which produces 39 bhp of maximum power and enables the tractor to attain a top speed of 32.71 kmph.

The Sonalika DI 35 went under a zero acceleration power test, in which it proved its prowess in pulling a cultivator immersed in soil, with three-four people boarding on it. Even under these conditions, the tractor can pull the cultivator easily at an engine speed as low as 600 rpm. The company fitted trolley pressure pipe enables the Sonalika DI 35 for easy lifting of trolleys.

The Sonalika DI 35 has 6x16 front tyres and options of 12.4x28 or 13.6x28 rear tyres. The dual-clutch of the Sonalika DI 35 is beneficial in threshing and post-hole digging. The 6 spline PTO of this tractor operates at 540 rpm and produces 24.6 bhp of power. The tractor comes with a 55-litre fuel tank and a ground clearance of 425mm.
