Swaraj is a tractor and farm equipment making company which is owned by Mahindra &amp; Mahindra Ltd. Formerly known as Punjab Tractors Limited, the company was taken over by Mahindra Group in 2007 and subsequently, in 2009, the name was changed to the swaraj division.

Swaraj Tractors was established in 1974 with a mission to be self-reliant and develop India&rsquo;s first Indigenous tractor. Today Swaraj is a rapidly growing company, has a wide portfolio of tractors and farm machinery, and stands firmly amongst the top tractor brands in India. We manufacture a range of tractors from 11.18 kW to 48.47 kW (15Hp-65Hp) for various farming needs including 4WD tractors for wetland &amp; specialized tractors for horticulture.

Mahindra Tractors is number one in sales in India - the largest tractor market in the world - and it has been the market leader since 1983. Its sales are predominantly in the states of Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, and the Southern States. Its sales in Gujarat are under the label Mahindra Gujarat and its sales in Punjab are under the label Swaraj. In 1999, Mahindra purchased 100% of Gujarat Tractors from the Government of Gujarat and Mahindra purchased a 64.6% stake in Swaraj in 2004. Mahindra Tractors started manufacturing 15HP tractors under the brand name Yuvraj in Rajkot in 2011. The plant in Rajkot is set up jointly by Deepak Diesel Pvt Ltd and Mahindra &amp; Mahindra. The plant has a maximum capacity of 30000 tractors per annum. Mahindra tractors are known for their Exceptional built and performance on rugged and unforgiving terrains today. Powertrac tractors are built in India by the Escorts Group (Escorts Agri) for sale in India. They are considered the economic models and are one of three brands built by Escorts Agri. The other brands are Escort and Farmtrac.

Today Massey Ferguson is one of the most widely used brands of tractors around the world. With licensing deals, it is one of the largest brands, along with John Deere. Tractors that came after the 300 series included the Massey Ferguson 4200 series, the MF 4300 series, and presently the Massey Ferguson 5400 series. MF produced many tractors in between that were aimed at a more niche market including &quot;Datatronic&quot; and &quot;Dynashift/Powershift&quot; machines. These included the 3600 (early 90s), 3000 (early to mid 90s), 3100 (mid 90s), 6100 (late 90s), 6200 (late 90s/early 2000s), 8200 (late 90s/early 2000s), 6400(present), 7400(present) and 8400(present).

In 1949, Eicher GoodEarth was set up in India with a technical collaboration with Gebr. Eicher of Germany imported and sold about 1500 tractors in India. On 24 April 1959 Eicher came out with the first locally assembled tractor from its Faridabad factory and in a period from 1965 to 1974 became the first fully manufactured (100% indigenization) tractor in India. In December 1987 Eicher Tractors went public and in June 2005 Eicher Motors Limited sold Eicher Tractors &amp; Engines to a subsidiary of TAFE called TAFE Motors and Tractors Limited.

Eicher also produced tractors under the Euro Power and Eicher Valtra brands under license from Valtra, an AGCO brand.

Farmtrac tractors are built in India by the Escorts Group (Escorts Agri) for sale in India and Poland. It is one of three brands built by Escorts Agri. The other brands are Escort and Powertrac. The Farmtrac brand was launched by Escorts in 1996 in response to the loss of the Ford/New Holland license in India.
