The Eicher 242 is powered by a unique single-cylinder 1.5-litre diesel engine, which makes it one of the very few tractors to be powered by a single-cylinder engine in the world. This engine is paired with a transmission unit comprising 8 forward and 2 reverse gears and produces a maximum power output of 25 bhp. Eicher claims a top speed of 27.61 kmph for the 242 tractors, while it gets basic air cooling for keeping the engine cool at high operating temperatures. The Eicher 242 comes with a single clutch as standard for the transmission.

However, for an extra premium, one can get the tractor equipped with oil-immersed brakes. The Eicher 242 measures 3155mm long, 1630mm wide and 2030mm tall, while having a wheelbase of 1880mm and a kerb weight of 1710 kg.&nbsp;
